Capulin Volcano National Monument
Capulin Volcano National Monument preserves one of the best examples of a cinder cone volcano in North America. Rising more than 1,000 feet above the surrounding plains of northeastern New Mexico, the volcano was formed by a volcanic eruption approximately 60,000 years ago and remains remarkably intact today. A scenic road winds to the rim, where visitors can enjoy panoramic views of the Raton-Clayton Volcanic Field, an expansive landscape shaped by millions of years of volcanic activity.
This vintage-inspired Capulin Volcano National Monument print celebrates the dramatic geology and wide-open landscapes of the American Southwest. Created in the spirit of classic WPA-era artwork, it captures the striking profile of the volcano and the rugged beauty of New Mexico’s volcanic high country. A perfect piece for hikers, geology enthusiasts, road-trippers, and anyone fascinated by the forces that shape our planet.
