Assateague Lighthouse

Assateague Lighthouse stands on the southern end of Assateague Island within the Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge in Virginia. Completed in 1867, the 142-foot red-and-white striped tower was built to guide vessels along the Atlantic Coast and replace an earlier lighthouse threatened by erosion.
