Fourteen Foot Bank Lighthouse
Fourteen Foot Bank Lighthouse stands in Delaware Bay approximately 11 miles offshore from the Delaware coast. Completed in 1889, the cast-iron caisson lighthouse was built atop a dangerous shoal known as Fourteen Foot Bank to guide vessels traveling the busy shipping routes between the Atlantic Ocean and the ports of the Delaware River. Rising directly from the open waters of the bay, the lighthouse represents a remarkable achievement in nineteenth-century engineering and offshore construction. Today, it remains one of the most distinctive navigational landmarks in Delaware Bay.
This vintage-inspired Fourteen Foot Bank Lighthouse print celebrates one of the Mid-Atlantic's most iconic offshore beacons. Drawing inspiration from the bold colors and simplified forms of WPA-era travel posters, the artwork highlights the lighthouse's unique caisson design, open-water setting, and enduring maritime character. Designed for lighthouse enthusiasts, maritime historians, coastal travelers, and collectors of American landmarks, this piece captures the isolation, engineering ingenuity, and beauty of a beacon that has safeguarded mariners for more than 135 years.
