Whaleback Lighthouse stands on a rocky ledge near the mouth of the Piscataqua River between Kittery, Maine, and Portsmouth, New Hampshire. Completed in 1872, the granite lighthouse was built to guide vessels navigating the narrow river entrance and the busy harbor approaches serving the Seacoast region. Rising directly from the exposed rocks of Whaleback Ledge, the lighthouse has endured powerful tides, winter storms, and the challenging conditions of the Gulf of Maine for more than 150 years. Today, it remains one of New England's most distinctive offshore beacons.

This vintage-inspired Whaleback Lighthouse print celebrates one of the Seacoast's most iconic maritime landmarks. Drawing inspiration from the bold colors and simplified forms of WPA-era travel posters, the artwork highlights the lighthouse's rugged offshore setting, sturdy granite tower, and dramatic ocean surroundings. Designed for lighthouse enthusiasts, maritime historians, coastal travelers, and collectors of New England landmarks, this piece captures the resilience and enduring character of a beacon that has safeguarded mariners at the entrance to the Piscataqua River since the nineteenth century.
