About This Print

Borden Flats Lighthouse stands in the waters of Mount Hope Bay between Fall River and Somerset, Massachusetts. Completed in 1881, the distinctive cast-iron sparkplug lighthouse was built to guide vessels navigating the busy shipping channels that served the region's textile mills, shipyards, and waterfront industries. Rising directly from the bay on a cylindrical caisson foundation, the lighthouse is one of the most recognizable examples of nineteenth-century lighthouse engineering in New England. Today, it remains a unique landmark of Massachusetts' maritime heritage.

This vintage-inspired Borden Flats Lighthouse print celebrates one of New England's most distinctive offshore beacons. Drawing inspiration from the bold colors and simplified forms of WPA-era travel posters, the artwork highlights the lighthouse's unusual sparkplug design, open-water setting, and historic connection to the industrial ports of Mount Hope Bay. Designed for lighthouse enthusiasts, maritime historians, coastal travelers, and collectors of New England landmarks, this piece captures the character of a lighthouse that has stood watch over southeastern Massachusetts for nearly a century and a half.
