Chippewa National Forest

Chippewa National Forest spans more than 1.6 million acres across north-central Minnesota, protecting vast pine forests, pristine lakes, wetlands, and the headwaters of the Mississippi River. Established in 1908 as Minnesota's first national forest, the landscape is home to more than 1,300 lakes and supports abundant wildlife, including bald eagles, black bears, gray wolves, and one of the largest nesting populations of common loons in the United States.
