Coxsackie Lighthouse
Coxsackie Lighthouse stands on the Hudson River near the village of Coxsackie, New York. Completed in 1898, the distinctive cast-iron lighthouse was built to guide commercial vessels navigating the busy river channel connecting New York City with communities throughout the Hudson Valley. Resting on a cylindrical caisson foundation, the lighthouse is an excellent example of the "sparkplug" design commonly used on inland waterways during the late nineteenth century. Today, it remains a rare and well-preserved landmark of the Hudson River's maritime history.
This vintage-inspired Coxsackie Lighthouse print celebrates one of the Hudson Valley's most distinctive navigational landmarks. Drawing inspiration from the bold colors and simplified forms of WPA-era travel posters, the artwork highlights the lighthouse's unique sparkplug architecture, riverfront setting, and historic character. Designed for lighthouse enthusiasts, maritime historians, Hudson Valley travelers, and collectors of American landmarks, this piece captures the enduring connection between the Hudson River and the communities that grew along its shores.
