Helena–Lewis and Clark National Forest

Helena–Lewis and Clark National Forest spans more than 2.8 million acres across west-central Montana, protecting rugged mountain ranges, limestone cliffs, alpine meadows, and expansive conifer forests. Formed through the merger of two historic national forests in 2006, the forest includes portions of the renowned Bob Marshall Wilderness Complex, one of the largest intact wilderness areas in the lower 48 states. Its diverse landscapes provide habitat for grizzly bears, elk, mountain goats, and countless other native species while offering exceptional opportunities for hiking, camping, fishing, hunting, and backcountry exploration.
