About This Print

Mount of the Holy Cross rises to 14,011 feet in Colorado's Sawatch Range and is renowned for the distinctive cross-shaped snowfield etched into its eastern face. The feature gained national attention during the nineteenth century and helped inspire the creation of the Holy Cross National Monument in 1929, later incorporated into the White River National Forest. Surrounded by rugged wilderness, alpine lakes, and glacially carved valleys, the mountain remains one of Colorado's most recognizable and historically significant summits.
