About This Print

Plum Island Lighthouse stands at the mouth of the Merrimack River in Newburyport, Massachusetts, overlooking the waters where the river meets the Atlantic Ocean. Completed in 1873, the lighthouse was built to guide vessels navigating the shifting sandbars and strong currents that have long made the river entrance one of the most challenging on the New England coast. Positioned near the Parker River National Wildlife Refuge and the sandy shores of Plum Island, the lighthouse reflects both the maritime and natural heritage of northeastern Massachusetts. Today, it remains a recognizable landmark along the North Shore.

This vintage-inspired Plum Island Lighthouse print celebrates one of Massachusetts' most distinctive coastal beacons. Drawing inspiration from the bold colors and simplified forms of WPA-era travel posters, the artwork highlights the lighthouse's historic tower, coastal dunes, and sweeping Atlantic setting. Designed for lighthouse enthusiasts, maritime historians, birdwatchers, and collectors of New England landmarks, this piece captures the enduring character of a beacon that has guided mariners at the mouth of the Merrimack River for more than 150 years.
